Dreaming of the beach...

I woke this morning to a beautiful blue sky and a mere 29 Degrees! I am not ready for the winter to come so I am posting pictures of this last summer. Joe and I were lucky enough to spend a week in Newport OR, our new favorite place, this summer for your honeymoon. I could not resist taking this picture of the "No Collecting" sign it was on the beach at Yaquina Lighthouse. I am a collector of many things. Joe thinks I should frame this sign to remind me to stay focused on one collection, but how boring is that? :)

Actually, most of my home decor and objects that I collect (excluding chairs, of course) is on the nautical theme. We have maps and boats and anchors and shells sprinkled all over the house.

This summer, Joe, Sophie and I painted this nautical star on our upper deck. This was one of our best days. Both of us being creative, music blaring (Sugar Land), warm sun and family fun. Joe, the math wizard, spent hours calculating how to draw it. Each point had to be precise, in his mind. It turned out fantastic. I actually mixed left over paint from rooms in our house with deck stain to create this transparent look.

Here it is today covered in leaves and frost, the red background really made it pop with the dark stain of the rest of the deck. It makes me smile every time I look at it. ~ Danylle
