Here's What's Cookin'

This summer, I found a recipe card box full of great recipes at a yard sale. I was lucky enough to find a few cute blank recipe cards too. I scanned them so I can share them with you. Just click on the images to enlarge them, then right click and save picture as. I just LOVE the following one, it reads "kissin wears out cookin don't" it folds in half to fit in the 3 x 5 recipe box.

My new-OLD recipe box is stuffed completely full and is labeled on the top "pudding, soup, breads & SAM" I don't know what the SAM stands for because I haven't gone through all the recipes yet. So far I have found 5 different carrot recipes.... carrot corn muffins, carrot cake, carrot bread, carrot party bread... there is even a recipe for marshmallows! I am serious! I scanned it too! I am not sure if I am brave enough to try to make my own marshmallows but maybe one of you can decipher the recipe and give it a try??

I now have recipes for chocolate Fudge Sauce, Fudge, Florida Fudge, Peanut Brittle, Molasses Taffy, Fudge Nut-Loaf, Coffee Fudge, Peanut butter Fudge, Five-Pound Fudge, Never Fail Fudge... (this lady loved her fudge!) Fondant, Pineapple Fondant.... Oh, it goes on and on and on... mostly desserts and breads. I think there are about 200 recipes in this little treasure box and you know what I am going to do with it?

I am going to make it my project this fall to scan them and share them with you. You've got to see the newspaper clippings, the magazine cut outs, the lovely handwriting, the adorable cards she used.

Today's recipes are Marshmallows and Fudge Nut Loaf. (Just click on the images to enlarge and save.)

If you do make any of the recipes, please comment and let me know how they turned out. I will do my best to put them in some kind of order and make them as clear as possible. I can't wait to try them out!
I hope you enjoy them!

  1. For someone that enjoys cooking and collects recipes, you found a jewel. Those are very vintage cards and real keepers. It still surprises me what people get rid of at the time of a loss.

  3. What a great find. It would be fun to try to make the marshmallows one day - or I could just buy a bag for $1.00. It is strange that someone sold that at a yard sale. At least it went to someone who appreciated it!!
