Handmade Owl Costume

If you are new to the paint series this is day 29 of 31 days of the Power of Paint. If you'd like to see the entire series click  HERE.
Homemade Owl Costume
I found this Owl Costume Tutorial over at AlphaMom. I cut out 60+ flannel "feathers" from 2 shirts and a pair of men's corduroy paints that I purchased at Goodwill. I decided to glue them on because I really do not like to sew. {I am Really B.A.D. at it.}

This Fabric Fusion glue works really well but it makes the shirt a little stiff. Make sure you insert a piece of cardboard inside of the shirt before gluing or the front and back will get glued together. I am speaking from experience here. :)

Here's my Sophie running from my camera. She would not hold still. We added the stocking cap because it was about 30 degrees out today. I purchased the owl mask at a Vintage Flea Market this fall for $2. It was the best find of the day.

Here she is again, trying to fly. I didn't go in to much detail on the wings. The tutorial at Alpha Mom only did the chest area. Soph insisted on some type of wings.

I kind of lost steam here at the back. I told her they are her tail feathers so I didn't have to continue gluing up the back. The shirt is a lot heavier now and doesn't have as much stretch. I am glad I bought it a size too big. Her birthday is on Halloween and it's the last day of my 31 days, I have a paint project that I will be finishing it up with as well as some birthday party decor. I'll be making 3 dozen cupcakes tomorrow and preparing my house for 20+ friends and family. Wish me luck! 4 days after this baby turns 6, my oldest turns 19. That makes me feel so old!

I am planning on continuing with my painting series once a week. I still have so many projects to share with you all.
