How to change your Blogger background and free background images

Happy February! I have lots of goals I want to accomplish this year. Lots of lofty dreams. Blogging has been such a rewarding venture that I am so glad I began back in 2009. I have been a little quiet here on Nana Moon due to the flu {first me, then my little one Sophie caught it} and due to the fact that I have have dived head first into learning WordPress and CSS. I have tried out and played with both but I have specific goals that I want to learn in both of these areas. One of which is setting up an online store through WordPress.com for a client. I can't wait to share it with you! It is turning out so incredible. I have a little web design studio called Opportunity Designs. It is my main focus right now. If you are wondering if I'm still painting and decorating. I am! Over on Instagram you can see my daily activities, adventures and fun with family. I am a huge Instagram fan!

Today I would like to share a Blogging tip with you.

How to change your Blogger background image

Blogger made this really simple. You can do it! First start with a background image. It can be tiny and tile-able or it can be the size of your blog background 1200x1000 px. I suggest going with a small tile-able image because it will load fast with less problems.

Here are some examples:

This image above is actually an enlarged version of the  merely-cubed pattern. It is a tiny image that when tiled makes your background look like this:

Here is the actual tiny image that I used to change my background (above). Click on it to enlarge (it wont get much bigger) and right-click your mouse then use the "Save As" option to save it to your computer.

Once you have a background image and are ready to update it, go to your Blogger Dashboard and click on the TEMPLATE option.

Then Click CUSTOMIZE. You will be taken to the Blogger Template Designer, once there click the BACKGROUND tab.

Then click in the BACKGROUND IMAGE BOX where you can see your current background image. {See Below}

This will open a window with several background images that you can use on your blog. If you want to add a custom image click the UPLOAD button at the top.

Search for your background image file, open it and click UPLOAD. Once you see your new background image in the background viewer, check the Alignment settings and make sure it says TILED if you chose to go with a tiny image like the one I provided.

Your new background image should appear on your blog preview below. You can go in and adjust the ALIGNMENT settings if necessary. If you like what you see, click APPLY TO BLOG in the top right corner. Then BACK TO BLOGGER.  Couldn’t be easier, right?

Here are a few fun background images that you can use on your blog:

{Gold-Coin background I made.}

Just be sure to click on the images above to enlarge. Then right-click "Save As" to save to your computer. The tiny images, fabric and wood images came from SubtlePatterns.com it's a great resource for background images. Also CreativeMarket.com is one of my favorite resources for images, fonts and templates. If you sign up with them you get weekly freebies like the Hot Coral image second from the top.

Hope you are staying warm out there! This winter has been harsh. Let me know if you have any questions. Have fun with your background image!
