Foot Stool Recovered

A few days ago I got this foot stool, for Little Miss Sophie. It's sturdy, small, practical and only $8! The only thing wrong with it really was the U-G-L-Y worn fabric covering it. So here's my quick 15 minute fix.

Supplies:
1. Fabric
2. Pinking Shears
3. Stapler & Staples
4. Screwdriver

I removed the lid from the stool, but left the hinges on the base.

I was going to remove the old fabric but it was a real bugger! After gouging myself with the screwdriver a few times, I gave up that idea. I cut some lovely fabric about 2 inches larger than the base on all sides. I cut it with Pinking Shears, because I love the look and they are honestly the sharpest scissors I own.

I mitered the corners.

Folded the fabric over and stapled, pulling it quite tight, checking to make sure it was not puckering.
And this is how it turned out. What do you think? Should I paint the base?
