My sisters and I fell in love with these vintage Scott paper towel holders at the
Funky Junk Sisters Antique Show in Puyallup in October. We all bought one. Gretta and I got green ones and Heather scored a white one. They were $12 each and found at different booths throughout the show. I use to have this ugly plastic model that came free with my package of paper towels one day. If you were in a hurry and wanted one towel and pulled too hard, it would unravel the entire roll. (My kids seem to do it on a daily basis). This vintage one is metal and spring loaded. You get one towel only every time, no matter how hard you pull. (Believe me my 12 year old Son has tested this extensively. LOL) It took me all of 2 minutes to switch these out, thanks to my husbands cordless drill/screwdriver. I love the splash of color and I love that it's metal and rusty and functional too.

I also have this metal wax paper, foil and paper towel holder on my counter but the paper towel part is small and holds my plastic wrap. Total functional, totally cute... The cake holder I inherited from my
Grandma Clara. I love it because it was hers, functional and fun. I add ribbon and rick rack to it depending on the occasion, this happened to be for Sophie's birthday party. It carried her cupcakes to school. Which do you collect antiques that are functional, fun or just pretty? Me? All of the above...

I remember the plastic ones, but never seen the metals. A flash back in time I must say.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a metal paper towel holder before. Much better than the plastic ones.
ReplyDeleteI never saw any holders like that before.
ReplyDeleteI love vintage kitchen items. I moved into an old house and in the old kitchen cabinet was a glass and metal towel holder. I kept it when we remodeled and attached it to my English baking table. Thanks for sharing. ~~Sherry~~
ReplyDeleteThe vintage towel holder looks so nice, and I love both your holders. Isn't it great that there's still a use for these pretty things?
ReplyDeleteYou have some very vintage kitchen things. We had both of these and more items as well in the tin or metal years, years ago. The only problem we found then, over time they rusted.
ReplyDeleteGreat vintage thingies!! I love when I find something that is vintage but still very functional in my life. You scored on all items and how nice to have your Grandma's cake carrier :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!

That's definitely better than the plastic! And vintage too. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteI love the plastic one...love the green. Happy VTT!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely beats plastic. I know what you mean about pulling to hard; ours is on the pantry door and you can end up with the whole roll on the floor. Spring loaded sounds pretty cool, and I love the color!
ReplyDeleteI just recently bought one identical to this and I have a question. What brand of products do you use? None of mine will fit in the dispenser. :( thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteHi Alisa,
ReplyDeleteMy paper towel holder is tricky, most of the time when I put paper towels in it the cardboard center folds over and gives me trouble. I have to pull the spring loaded end back quite a bit and really work at loading it. Mine is made by "Scott" so at first I only purchased their brand paper towels, now that I have gotten the hang of it, I can even use generic brands. It is worth the few minutes it takes to load it for the functionality and beauty.
Hope this helps.
Thanks All for stopping by my blog! It means a lot to me.
