No, this in NOT my wall. Oh, how I wish it was though. I found these photos at http://fourwallsandaroof.com/.
Lovely, aren't they? The plates in this one don't even seem to have a thing in common, just their individual beauty. Together they make quite a statement.
I have just recently started collecting pretty plates for such a display. Right now I have 3.
I have 2 vintage calendar plates, have you seen these? They have a full year calendar on them. I got these at a thrift shop for $2. I had to have them because they had the year I was born and the year my husband was born. {I had no idea I was born on a Thursday until I found this.}
The 3rd plate is from our honeymoon. I bought it at an antique shop in Lincoln City, OR. It has all the places we visited on the Oregon Coast last summer. I plan to keep adding random plates until this wall is full or I move on to another obsession. Do you collect plates? How do you display them?

Those are all interesting wall arrangements. Thanks for giving us some great ideas.
ReplyDeleteThose plate displays are quite creative and attractive.
ReplyDeleteNot only are the plates lovely, but CHECK OUT THAT SATELLITE LIGHT over the small round breakfast nook table!
ReplyDeleteSputnik I anyone?
Oh, I most certainly collect plates and platters. I have my platters on a special display rack, you can see that under the remodel post of my laundry room, I have some on the wall, and plan a new project with some of the others! You are right, these are great pictures! Have a great VTT!
ReplyDeleteLove the third picture the most. I guess because the colors remind me of my high school years.
ReplyDeleteGreat start to your collection!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved plates, but the randomness of these displays is really cool! Growing up, we collected souvenir plates on vacations and hung them high up on the kitchen walls, like where a wallpaper border would go. Had enough for three of the four walls (small kitchen). Still have some of them today. This makes me want to get them out and think of a way to display them again!
ReplyDeleteI was inspired by walls of plate also, and made something with embroidery hoops.

I love plates and have so many on the walls.
ReplyDeleteThree plates is a good start! There is a deli I go to that has a border of vintage plates at the top of two walls, with vintage dish towel valances on the windows. The border of plates is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThose plates are beautiful. I think your set of three is especially interesting. Years ago my husband put an oak plate rack on the wall in our dinning room. One of these vintage Thursdays, I'll post photos of our plates.
ReplyDeleteNow honey, don't get me started on plates - I love 'em! I like how your plates all have special significance to you and yours. What a great idea. I am addicted to plates/dishes myself. Here's to many more wonderful finds for you!
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely! I hope you post your new plates as you buy some more. Can't wait to see how you place them on the wall! Happy VTT!
ReplyDeleteI agree that plates can be used for art. It's such a great way to display vintage collections. When they are used on a wall you can really appreciate their charm. So much nicer than just storing in a cabinet and only used on occasion.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Susan and Bentley
xxoo
I think I am going to start also ^_^ Happy weekend!

ReplyDeleteI'm a late visitor from VTT - and those collections of plates are great. Im with you, wish they were mine. I always thought it was sort of old fashioned looking but two of those look so contemporary ! WOW
