Thank you for coming back to my 31 Days of Paint Series. If you want to see it from the beginning, just click HERE. Oh my goodness, we are at day 23 all ready? I can’t believe how fast this 31 days series is going! I have so much to show you. You will notice I am a day earlier than the rest of The Nester’s 31 Day bloggers because my daughter’s birthday is on the 31st and I wanted to get all 31 days in without stressing so I started a day early.
Joe made this bench for me out of an old twin bed that I had brought home from one of the many vintage shows I attend with my sisters. It was a steal at just $5. Joe cut the foot board of the bed in half to form the sides of the bench then he framed the bench seat. He said this bed must have been made of mahogany or iron wood because he broke a number of screws on it. (Isn't he a trouper?)
Since it was all ready painted, I decided to sand it and fill all the holes with a natural wood putty and repaint it. I posted a picture on Instagram to get color advise and my followers voted white. That is why I love them so!
The arms and legs of this bench were quite a job to sand and then the paint didn’t cover well. I ended up priming it with a spray primer and then painting it again with spray paint, satin finish bright white. When finished, I put it in my foyer. I dressed it up for Fall but will change the pillows (except the Pottery Barn typewriter pillow, which is my favorite) for the seasons.
This is the perfect spot to sit and put on or remove shoes. I am looking for larger baskets to put underneath to hold hats and gloves. I’ve written about most of the things in this picture, if you are curious about the BE SWEET SIGN, SPOOKY PRINTABLES, or CHALKBOARD.
Happy Painting!
What a great idea! Real cute!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree. This is a great idea. I wonder if the furniture stores in los angeles do have the same benches. I'd really like one.
ReplyDeleteGood. Finally your efforts are fruitful
