I made this British Flag inspired art for my nephew, Kirby. He is 18 and collects flags from around the world, so I thought this would go...

Free Printable Banner: "PEACE" on sheet music

Today I thought I would share my Peace banner printable that I created last December.

You know I love decorating with banners, right? I make them for every holiday. I made this PEACE banner on sheet music and wanted to share it with you.

This is a quick, 20 minute craft. All you need is card stock (plain printer paper works too!), scissors, hole punch and ribbon. I used gold wired ribbon and tied it off in bows between each letter.

Click the image to enlarge it, then right click and hit "Save As" or just print it from that screen if you don't want to download the image.  Repeat for each letter.

Be sure to print the letter E twice.

Just cut long the inside of the dotted line, punch holes; one in each corner and string with ribbon.

The song, "Let there be Peace on Earth and let it begin with me...." Was the inspiration for this banner. I hope you enjoy it.

Faux Burlap Printable Banner "Thankful"

Today I  thought I would re-share my Thankful banner that I created last year.  I created it in Word with a burlap background and a Google font called Great Vibes.

To be honest this is last year's mantel. This year I moved the mantel into another room because I repainted my living room and I'm still rearranging furniture. Small Burlap Thankful Banner

Just click the download button above and it will give you a download or print option. I printed these on white card stock and cut them out with pinking sheers to make it look more like fabric. I hole punched the corners and strung it with ribbon. Then hung it on my mantel. Quick, easy and free! Hope you enjoy!

Altered Tea Towels

Remember a while back when I stenciled a red anchor on to a set of tea towels for my One Room Challenge Room? It was one of the quickest and rewarding craft projects I've done in a long time.

They are still my favorite towels and have washed up nicely over the year, with the paint and stencil still as vibrant today as when I made them.

Today I made tea towels for my kitchen using an image from The Graphics Fairy and an Avery Light Fabric Transfer. Karen at the Graphics Fairy has done all the work on these images by reversing them for you. All you have to do is hit PRINT.  Print it directly on to the transfer paper.

I found both the Fabric Transfers and the cotton tea towels at Walmart so the supplies for this project are very inexpensive.

Here's how I transferred the image on to the tea towel:

Select image and print directly on to the Transfer Paper and trim if desired. I didn't trim mine because I like the rectangle it creates. Circular or small images should be trimmed so that you have less of the transfer paper left on the towel. Pre-wash your tea towels, then iron them. Turn iron to Cotton Setting with NO Steam. (Be sure to read the directions that come with your transfer paper.)

You have to press really firmly and consistently for about 3 minutes to make the transfer happen. Making sure to get the edges really well, as they tend to peal up over time.

After pressing, I hung it over the back of a chair to cool for about 5 minutes while I ironed the second one.

Once cooled, you can carefully peal off the backing to reveal your design.

This was an under 30 minute project. I have a few more ideas for altering tea towels that
I will be sharing next week.

I took a little time off last week to celebrate my Grandson, Cylas' First Birthday.

My daughters and I had lots of fun making the decorations and baking cupcakes and his little Monster cake for the party, in which we hosted 55 people.  I'll be sharing our Little Monster themed decorations and cupcakes soon.

I will be gone the rest of the week because my our little guy here is getting surgery to correct his strabismus in both of his eyes on Wednesday. To be honest, I am more than a little worried about him. If you are a believer in prayer, could you say one for Cylas? I'll keep everyone up to date on Cy via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Thanks my friends! Have a GREAT week!

National Painting Week Begins

Hey Guys!

It's National Painting Week! You know this compulsive painter has some projects planned! I even made this poster to commemorate it. (It's also my website's new tag line.) If you would like to download it, just click on the image above to enlarge it, right click, then hit  "Save As". To me, Spring means breaking out the spray paint, room paint and chalk paint and recoloring my world. I will be sharing some paint projects I've been working on this week. If you are looking for more paint inspiration, check out my Pinterest Board "Paint Inspiration" HERE.

If you need even more reason to start recoloring your world, I've been told that Sherwin-Williams has a whole website dedicated to National Paint Week. It will have daily color and project ideas as well as expert tips from Color Expert David Bromstad. Check it out HERE.

Happy Painting!

A Resolution for Introverts

I created the printable above so that I can hang it as a reminder. Feel free to click and enlarge it and use it for personal use.

I have a confession, there is something you don't know about me...

I am a HUGE chicken.

I write fearlessly from my home at my desk in my quiet little corner of my house but in real life... life outside that front door, I am afraid.

I speak softly, too softly. I am terribly shy. I do not confront issues or people.  I am my own worst enemy. I can talk over the phone fearlessly, email, tweet, blog and Facebook with the best of them, but when it comes to groups of people, I start to shake. Literally.

Right now, as I write this I am trying to convince myself to go to a meeting. It's a weight loss/support meeting held by people I know and love but there will be other people that I don't know there (about 30 all together) and quite frankly, I am scared. I have been looking for an excuse not to go all day. I have butterflies in my stomach over it. Isn't that silly? It's not like the Biggest Loser, they will not be putting my butt on a scale. It's just a bunch of ladies who want to explore ways of getting healthy. And I find myself looking for reasons not to go.

I am going to go. I am going to force myself to go. Because my resolution for this year is to "Start Living Your Life Fearlessly."

I would like to explore this topic a bit more with you to see if I can work through it. In my 20s, I was the marketing coordinator for a large ski resort, I was constantly doing radio, newspaper and TV interviews. I was fearless and having so much fun. Where has that girl gone?

I think with age and time, I have started to sprout feathers...

I hope you will walk with me on this journey to live fearlessly.

{P.S.I really am going to that meeting... }

Mantel Size Thankful Banner Burlap & Blue Printable

Yesterday I posted this Thankful Banner in Burlap with Blue Great Vibes Font. It is very large about 5 1/2 feet long. See it HERE. So today I thought I'd share a smaller version. This download has entire banner on one PDF file so it will be easier and faster to print.

Here is the smaller version on the mantel of my faux fireplace.

One Room Challenge Week 4

Welcome to week 4 of the One Room Challenge. 20 Design-Oriented Bloggers, 20 Room Makeovers Finished in 6 weeks.

To see the first few weeks of this challenge:

Master Bath Retreat

This picture pretty much sums it up for me, it has the right colors and that vintage feel that I love. Plus, it has the word Hope on it which is really where I am: I HOPE...  I hope I can get this all done in time! I'm going to find a vintage frame or make one and she will be 1 piece of art in my room. I got her over at Graphics Fairy.

If you will remember from my mood board, I am accessorizing with shells and nautical items. So I've been shopping.

Some of the things I have found, a coat hook to be used as a towel rack, a large sea shell dish for soap, a lobster buoy and some sea shells. The board in the picture above will soon be a sign. As you can tell, I am going for mostly white accessories because the walls are such a bright blue.

I found the lobster buoy at Michael's. This is its original color (minus the blue tape). I decided I didn't like the green so I just taped it off and painted it with craft paint.  I'm looking for pops of red.

I rested it in the tape roll to let it dry, then sanded the edges to have it match the worn look of the original paint. Quick and easy fix, don't settle... paint and get the color you want.

I have so much more to do on my room, I am feeling quite overwhelmed. We still haven't grouted the tile or finished the trim around the door or window. I told you, we have a phobia of grout, it's holding us back. I hope today is the day that the grouting happens... I HOPE :)

Don't forget about the other crazy brilliant, brave ladies taking this challenge! Stop by and see their progress.

Luck of the Irish Decorating & Printables

For a little Luck of the Irish, I am reposting last year's St. Patrick's Day decorating post I did. I have the same items hanging in my holiday corner right now. I love the fact that I still love them!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

My "Holiday Corner" needed some St. Patrick's Day Decor so I got out the usual supplies, glue gun, hot glue gun helpers, twine, fabric, vintage picture frames and embroidery hoops... I had a mod shamrock in mind.

I cut fabric circles and placed them inside the embroidery hoops, hot glued them together and added a vintage metric ruler {cause it had green typography on it}, to make my HUGE Mod Shamrock.

Below it I added my "Lucky" sign that I made from a tutorial at Inspiring Creations. See how to make your own "Lucky" Sign HERE.

This is how I added a string "hanger" to the back of my sign. Staples with green twine tied to them.

I created these little St. Patrick's Day prints and put them in my vintage frames. I think all St. Patrick's Day Decor should include a little gold. If you would like to use these printables, just click on the images below to enlarge, then "save as" and print. I made them 4 x 6 prints to fit in my little frames.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, My Friends!
