I’ve done it again! I’ve signed up to be part of the One Room Challenge Part 2!
I have linked up with 20 bloggers, all of us are going to attempt to redecorate one room in our house in only 6 weeks! Here is a list of Blogs that are participating:
For this round of the One Room Challenge I have decided to do my Master Bathroom. It is a room that over the past 3 years has undergone a complete renovation. We replaced a shower stall with a custom tiled tub and shower. We replaced the window, sinks, all the drywall, lighting and flooring. It has been a long road but now we are down to the finishing touches. These finishing touches are what I am hoping to do for the One Room Challenge.
Master Bath = Unfinished Business
Here is what my Master Bath currently looks like:
It’s a good start; the finish? That’s the problem, as you shall see…
{Exhibit A}
The door is off because the hinge is broken. Who builds a vanity without drawers? Where do you put the small stuff? Also I hate those tiles, the little glass ones at the front of the vanity. Too much bling, I think. I like them on the backsplash. I haven’t grouted these because I haven’t decided if I should rip them off and use white/wood trim or leave them. What would you do? This is the only original thing left in the bathroom. We kept the vanity because it was cost effective. It was laminated with a dark walnut plastic looking finish, so I whipped out the primer and painted it, oh, so many moons ago… still haven’t gotten to the paint part.
{Exhibit B}
Do you see all my not finished notes? The window is not trimmed, the trim around the alcove in our pony wall isn’t painted, the outlet isn’t even working, the one and only outlet in the room! How do you hang a shower curtain here? I need an L shaped curtain rod? What were we thinking? :)
{Exhibit C}
We have a problem with Grout. Do you see the grout all over the tile on the pony wall? Joe did that. He let it sit for 4 hours before wiping it off. Said he read the directions. (Really???) It was solid as stone when I got to it. I have tried everything to get the grout off of the tile from sanders to acid (asthma attack!) nothing works. Now, do you see where it says {Needs Grout}? We have a little Grout phobia. No Grout here yet. No one can use this beautifully tiled shower. I love, love, love this tile! Joe did such an amazing job on it and an terrified of ruining it. I need to hire a grout guy.
{Exhibit D}
There is nothing in this room. It is an echo chamber. It has no style. It needs: finished, art, linens, storage and décor. It needs to be my sanctuary. I want it to remind me of the Oregon Coast, where we spent our honeymoon.
I want it to feel like this:
I have made a board on Pinterest of ideas as a sort of jumping off point for the décor. See it HERE. I want Joe and I to feel like we are back at the beach every time we escape into the Master Bath. (Uh, individually, that is… Blushing…)
Well, there you have it. One Room Challenge Part 2, Post 1. We will all be posting about our rooms on Wednesdays. {Me, probably later in the day than the others, as I am on the West Coast.} I hope you will take the time to visit the other 19 Bloggers who have joined the challenge. These are some amazingly talented individuals. Linda at My Crafty Home Life has graciously taken the time get us all together. Thank you, Linda! I can’t wait to see what they all come up with!

Well, that is quite an inspiration you have....a vacation feel. I can't wait to see how you do this one. I think Joe will be very busy!
ReplyDeleteLove the inspiration! Can't wait to see how you pull this off!! Welcome back to the challenge!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely inspiration photo. You want serene! Your bathroom will be beautiful! I can't wait to see what you do!
ReplyDeleteOK...the shower curtain has left me scratching my head...you will need to research that part...otherwise I have faith that it will be a gem when you are finished! Go Girl!
ReplyDeleteYou will be a tile and grout expert by the end of this! Bravely grouting where no one has gone before. It's going to be great...Where we're going, we don't need instructions!!!
ReplyDeleteI am loving the accent tile.... but not sure what to do with the grout! And the shower curtain? Maybe a frameless glass slider? It will have to be custom and maybe $$. The transformation will be awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your pins. Very calming. Can't wait to see what you do!
ReplyDeleteThis challenge is just what we all need to finally finish a project and yours is already well on it's way! I might suggest a glass shower 1/2 wall or L shape.. That would compliment the space better than a curtain perhaps. Best of luck with your challenge!
