Welcome to week 3 of the One Room Challenge. 20 Design-Oriented Bloggers, 20
Room Makeovers Finished in 6 weeks.
I have to start this week by introducing you to my Grandson!
This is Cylas Anthony, he was born on Friday, July 6. He weighed in at 6 lbs 14 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. He is my first grandchild. So now I am officially, Nana. His Momma, Samantha, my oldest daughter, is doing well, she, Cylas and Cylas's Daddy have recently moved in to our basement "apartment". Our house of 5 has grown to a household of 8. What a change! It's all good.
Even though she appears to have that deer-in-headlights look about her, Auntie Sophie is loving this little guy. She is very excited to have someone younger than her in the house. Her closest sibling is 14 year old brother Kaleb.
Master Bath Retreat
Since we've been getting a ton of company at our house, my One Room Challenge has kind of been put on the back burner. I have, however, managed to solve my shower curtain issue shown below. While my ideal thing would be a custom glass enclosure, I needed a cost effective temporary solution.
I found this fabulous linen striped shower curtain that matches my glass accent tile pretty well. Then I found a curtain rod that is meant to be attached to the ceiling. We mounted it with molly screws so it is pretty solid. I bought shower curtain rod hooks that are not closed so if the kids or Joe pull too roughly on them, the hooks will come off the rod: not the rod coming off the ceiling. They have put this to the test, it works well.
The only thing that I don't really like is that the rod came in black and most of my metals in the room are chrome. I just put the curtain on the long side leaving the back end of the shower by the half wall exposed. I seriously considered doing this with pipe fittings and galvanized pipe but in the end wanted more contemporary than rustic.
With a standard shower curtain hanging from the ceiling, it comes to rest on top of the tub. To keep the water inside the tub during showers, I purchased an extra long white shower curtain liner.
It's bright, beachy, airy and exactly what I was hoping to find. Some times creative solutions are just an isle away just keep shopping. That's my new motto! {Much to Joe's dismay, LOL!}

He's adorable Danylle! Congratulations on becoming a Nana! You could paint the rod...but I like it. And more importantly it's up! Good progress considering all the activity!!

DeleteBeing a grandmother is the best! Congratulations. (Where did you find a shower curtain that long? Was it custom?)
ReplyDeleteI actually found the shower curtain and liner at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
DeleteCongratulations on your new grandbaby!!! I'm a little late to the show so he's probably growing so fast now. :)
ReplyDeleteDo you recall where your husband got the ceiling-mounted shower rod? We're redoing our utility bath and have looked high and low for this very thing -- haven't been able to find one anywhere.
Hi Jessica! Thank you! I remember purchasing the curtain rod at Bed Bath and Beyond. But couldn't find it on their website. I did find a similar one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/BCL-Drapery-Hardware-58VC86B-Ceiling/dp/B006E9IRM4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1354243676&sr=8-4&keywords=ceiling+mount+curtain+rod Hope it helps!
