Do you know what inspired me to do the Copy Me Challenge?
I have the same gate. Mine was sitting against my fence buried in a few feet of snow but I dragged it into the house and gave it new life in my new blogging office. What do you think? Can you see my Funky Junk Inspiration?
Two old sewing machine drawers I found at a flea market in Montana now serve as twine and string holders. An old picture frame got new life with some wire and clothes pins, just like Donna's. The little picture is of my Dad in 9th grade and the other one is my Happy Wedding Couple photo.
Look, I even managed to find a rusty faucet handle. I was so tickled!
I took this old wooden {seriously dirty} box right off the wall of my husband's garage. And you know what? I am keeping it! I found this old rusty mop on a huckleberry picking adventure we had this summer. We found an old dump full of fantastic rusty finds. This mop made me happy and just had to come home with me, until now it's been sitting on my back porch {catch all room}. I am so happy to display it and give it a home. The insides of my coffee pot now hold paper clips and my antique sifter is now a pencil holder. I love Donna's use of plants so I pulled this ivy out of the living room and plopped it down inside an old rusty coffee can, also stolen from my husband's garage. {He won't miss it, but he might wonder why there is a huge pile of nails on his work bench. Shhh! Don't tell.}
This tool box is another favorite of mine. I have had it in my craft room for years. The handle is all rusty and so is the bottom and I love it! Rusty scissors, a brown paper covered notebook, an old rusty metal star final and a sage plant top it off.
I turned another old sewing machine drawer over to give my metal lamp some height.
I am going to top the old door with a piece of glass so it is more functional. And I am on the lookout for some old saw horses to use as the table base. Right now it is literally sitting on one of those Costco folding tables.
I am still working on my Miss Mustard Seed design. I have had the best time with this challenge! How did I do? Hop on over to Funky Junk Interiors and check it out.
Thanks Donna! It was so much fun!

Everything looks wonderful. Just like the famous funky Junk Donna herself would create.
ReplyDeleteOh girl... this is fabulous! I LOVE your new desk area and you're actually creating the near exact image I had in my own mind's eye! This is so fab!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm thrilled to hear that you LOVE it! That makes me even happier! It's one thing to try these changes but to make them work for you? It doesn't get any better than that. :) Love how you added height AND productivity with your chosen pieces.
Well done!
Donna

have you been over to my house? I have a garden gate just like that on my craft table....with twine nearby as well. Great minds think alike...isn't it wonderful with blogs to discover, share and see that our love of junk is perfectly normal!>
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I love it!
ReplyDeleteYour gate makes me swoon. In my craft area I have the same old door that I am using for a table. I did top it with glass and I love it. I would use the gate as an inspiration board to pin up all of my project ideas. I enjoyed your post. Take care!

ReplyDeleteI simply love your desk with a great job. Great idea to put glass over the door. Everything came together for a perfect picture.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, I'm really liking that door and I think the sifter is so fun as a pencil holder. It's not easy to copy a look like this because you can't just go to the store and expect to find everything. These things take time and love;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative mind you have. You have literally took things that was mostly junk and turned them into new life. It all comes together very nicely. Job well done!

I just made a desktop from a door today!!! It was white so I just sanded it & then I used a turquoise stain on it. It turned out great! I also used 2 doors to make a headboard for my bed!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for providing inspiration to those of us that are attempting to re-purpose vintage/used materials! :)
